Bride & Groom

Summertime is full of fun outdoor activities, from days at the beach and hikes in the woods to cookouts, picnics in the park and dining at your favorite outdoor restaurant. Coupled with long sunny days and mild nights, no wonder it is one of the most popular seasons of the year for weddings.

Since we’re just wrapping up the summer of 2007—and you’re in full wedding-planning mode—you might just be considering the out-of-doors for your ceremony and/or reception. If so, there are a few more logistical details to consider than you would for an indoor event. Details such as backup plans (for rain), accommodations (such as a tent or pavilion, heaters and restrooms), permits, acoustics and the like. Our article Out is in, on page 52, gives you the low down on these and other particulars. We’ve also got some visual inspiration for you: Our pictorial The great outdoors, on page 60, showcases four al fresco events put on by New England couples.

And since we’re on the topic of the great outdoors, it brings to mind the environment and the continued attention being paid to eco-friendly ways of living. In recent years, BRIDE & GROOM™ Magazine has incorporated more and more content discussing green options for wedding planning. Our last issue focused on the menu; this time around, the spotlight is on socially responsible jewelry options in the article All that glitters is… green?, on page 38. Look for a green-based topic to appear in subsequent editions as well.

The rest of this issue covers many other great topics: Everything from working up your reception’s seating arrangements in Seating chart strategies, on page 46, to a look at bridal gown fashions, on page 72, that have a distinctive vintage flair. We’ve also got an expanded honeymoon section featuring three articles that highlight two island locales and some regional options for your first trip as newlyweds. And, as always, we’re showcasing recent, local weddings in our Near-by Nuptials section.

We’re glad that you’ve picked up BRIDE & GROOM™ Magazine to help you plan such a special day. It is truly the best regional planning resource around. Be sure to check our Web site, www.BrideGroomMag.com, to see what’s coming up for Winter 2008 (due out January 1st) and to submit information about your event. Who knows… maybe you’ll see yourself in these pages, too.

Best wishes,
